ReplyDeleteI am not a mother myself yet but it makes sense to me that they will fall asleep to this and it helps them sleep since its really the first sounds they have ever heard and have associated that sound with their mother. I would much rather use this as an aid for them then just let them cry constantly and not sleep.

ReplyDeleteNot really. In fact, their "natural" state IS white noise. The womb was full of it. Expecting babies to sleep in silence is working against their natural way of falling asleep. Not to mention it's great for blocking out distractions (noisy older sibling, barking dog, etc.) that can wake a sleeping baby. Plus, white noise isn't just for babies. Many adults also find it helpful either to concentrate or to sleep, either through a white noise machine or even just a simple electric fan.
