    I believe so, unfortunately. As far as I know, only legal in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

    Yes, they are legal if bought from a USDA-licensed breeder within the state (no importation allowed). I live(d) in Pennsylvania and is where I purchased Jasper. I recently moved to Wyoming for a grad degree so I will be here for about 2 years. Jasper was $300. Standard black and white go for about $300-400. Other colors and patterns can be an extra $100-200 depending on the breeder.

    Also, if the descenting procedure put a skunk's life in danger or was extremely painful, then yes, I would be even more against it. BUT, if done by an experienced vet at a young age, it is less invasive, less painful and healing time is quick. I have heard horror stories of older skunks getting descented and I find that unacceptable. Otherwise, babies recover very quickly and it does not appear to be traumatic to them.

    I understand reasons for both sides. I think if I were to spend time in a home with a gland-intact skunk and saw how little threat there was of being sprayed then I'd be convinced that leaving them intact is not a risk. Not that I have any doubts towards European owners that I've talked with...but some skunks have more aggressive personalities than others and may resort more quickly to spraying than typical, docile skunks.

    Rats are the best pets I've ever owned. I've had at least five of them throughout my childhood and I agree, such wonderful creatures should live longer than 4-5 years.

    RATS? really? That's absurd. Rats are one of my favorites. They make wonderful pets. Wish they lived longer.. I miss my little guys.

    I'm almost positive that they are illegal in Australia. I once spoke to someone living there who very much wanted one but told me that the laws prohibited them. Sorry :(

    omggggggggg,, i was watering my lawn last night and i herd the pebbles behind me move, i turned around and i jsut see this white stripe, it was a skunkkk, and it was soooo cute & seemed pretty friendly, it didnt even move when i came close, i think i waas way more afriad of it than it was of me hahah .. i WANT ONE
