10 Tips for Airline Travel with Baby

mamanatural.com Mike and I are avid travelers and having a baby doesn't have to stop us from continuing this great love of ours. We've already taken Griffin on three airplane trips in his young 6 month-old life. While traveling with little ones takes a little more planning and patience, it can be done. Here are the top tips for traveling with babies that I've learned along the way. 1. Book flights outside of the "witching hour." With young babies, the later the date, the more fussy they become. I learned the hard way not to book a flight in the 3 to 7 pm window. It is much easier to take morning flights because babies are better rested, happier and therefore more adaptable. 2. Reserve a window seat. This gives you privacy for nursing or feeding and contains a "wall" (the window) to lean against which helps with a squirmy baby. You are also in charge of the amount of light coming in through window shade, which helps when trying to get a baby to nap. An added bonus, some babies also like to look out windows... a nice diversion! 3. Go to gate early and see if you can be seated next to an empty seat. If the plane isn't full, most airline attendants will let you move to a seat next to an empty seat. This is a HUGE score. We brought Griffin's car seat onboard and strapped him in the empty seat between Mike and I. He fell asleep easily because he's in his own space and familiar with being in there for naps. 4. Bring a travel companion. If possible, be sure a husband, companion ...

  4. I started traveling when I was 4 months. My parents never had big problems with me in airplanes :)

  5. Hi ,did you think a 2 month old baby could fly?

  6. Hello, have you heard of "Reveal Travel Deal" (do a Google search for it)? I have seen numerous amazingly cheap resorts as well as flights. This could allow you to spend less on your future holiday as well.

  7. Oh my god! Where were you in that last scene? I live in southern California and I have never seen anything like that before!

  8. Hey there, have you tried out "Reveal Travel Deal" (google it)? I have discovered quite a few amazingly low-priced resorts and even plane tickets. This might allow you to save money on your next journey as well.

  9. DANM I DONT WANT TO SEE THIR FACES ON A PLANE

  10. You forget to bring a car seat and pay for the seat for your baby. Car seats necessarily need to be at the window, but they do so much to protect the baby during turbulence. When I took my 3 month old we had horrible turbulence and I nearly dropped him. I found out this is a very common injury for lap-babies, and when that belt light comes on you can't use the Ergo or anything to help you try and hang onto them. For their life... car seat.

  11. Great video, great tips, beautiful family! and sunset...oh my!

  12. Also, a window seat wouldn't be a big deal, since the other two seats are going to be occupied by me and her father. My daughter doesn't need her "ass slapped", and she doesn't throw food or things at other people.

  13. I wasn't sad or stressed flying with my baby, and in fact she didn't scream, she was quite friendly, and people were quite friendly to me as well as her.

    ReplyDelete
  14. get over the truth, no one wants to deal with you acting all sad and stressed and your fucking screaming kid.

    ReplyDelete
  15. fuck you retard... No one cares what you think because no one wants to deal with a fucked up mother thats a slave to her own kid, and a fuck whiny brat screaming and throwing shit around. I had a few of my shirts ruined twice because of stupid fucking undisciplined brats on a plane. The real jerks are parents like yourself that dont take your kid to the bathroom and slap their ass... the real jerks are people like you that demand a window seat meanwhile you need to get up every 20 minutes...

  16. I think it's funny how people write nasty rude comments just to get a reaction of of others lol Well.....clearly it worked! I liked these tips. I'm taking my daughter to England at the end of the month to visit family and my grandmother whom I haven't seen in about 9 years!! I'm excited.. There are 5 of us going so it will be nice to have all those extra hands :)

  17. Well, how do you think most parents get to Disney with their kids?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Who's talking about Disney? I'm saying that small children on any airplane to anywhere are annoying for everybody else. It's a fact. Simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Maybe kids better stop making trips to Disney than, I'm sure Disney will appreciate that

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well, if you are flying with the baby's father, than typically that seat will be the babies father. There are not sleeping/allergy medicines approved for babies, and are definitely not there to make babies sleep.
I can't stand jerks on planes, but clearly we aren't going to stop making people like you ride.
Oh and the breastfeeding thing, it's natural, get over it...

  21. most carseats are now, but if you want something just for travel, although they aren't the best carseat, a lot of people are using the cosco ones (small and light), but most made now are approved

    ReplyDelete
  22. Benadryl isn't really approved for babies, and does this mean I shouldn't take my daughter to go see two of her grandmas?

I'm sorry but get the hell over yourself, I actually got a lot of compliments about my daughter on her first flying trip.

  23. love you videos- they are awesome- but even with all the tips i am nervous about traveling with my baby girl for th first time- ALONE- TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT. i ve got a question- is is absolutely necessary to get a separate sit for a baby or not, thanks in advance

  24. For those of you saying not to take babies on a plane. My husband is in the military and hasn't seen his son in months. You would rather a service member not see their son so you can have peace and quiet? Drink a glass of wine and chill out. They are better than you.
